watercolor 2004 1 by hardcorish watercolor 2004 1 by hardcorish
It's a fast sketchy watercolor painting I did during my painting practice in a russian town called Vyborg, it's near Finland. It was back in 2004.

On this one, the boat and the details in the far are painted by my teacher. She really gave me a lot of knowledge and self-confidence.

It's A4 watercolor paper, watercolors.

These colors, <3

I love vibrant color contrasts. This piece does that very well. The only critique I have is that they obscure the image in the background slightly; I feel like that wouldn't have been a problem if that image had been drawn in a slightly darker shade of black, or gone back over after the colors were laid down.

Great piece!

Ok, this is even better, or almost.

The mix of colors is very soft and imprecise, it gives a vague, romantic feeling, I like a lot the dry strokes on the details, like in the ship, is something simple but very hard to do well.

As a critique, maybe the pinkish tone is too strong, or maybe is the charm of the painting, it depends on the place and the intention.
